photo of Adrian Travis Travoptics was set up in summer 2018 to assist clients with the design of slim optical systems. The concepts stem from research into 3D and augmented reality displays. Displays need to be thin and it turns out that many optical systems can be folded into slab light-guides by total internal reflection, in the manner of a kaleidoscope.

Adrian Travis was a lecturer at Cambridge University until 2007 when he joined Microsoft Research. He left in winter 2018 and went on to found Travoptics that is based in Paris. He is a fellow of the UK Royal Academy of Engineering and won its silver medal in 2009.
